Many people love how photography has evolved from film based cameras to digital photography. It has definitely made it much easier to get pictures transmitted all over the world and it is also more cost effective.

If you have a digital camera for the first time, you may wonder how you can get those images off of your camera and onto your computer. There are a couple different ways.

The first way is by using the memory card. If your camera has a memory card, you can simply remove it and then slide it into the port on your computer that it fits in. Most programs will auto detect that it is there, and start the needed program to get your pictures onto the computer. As they are uploading, it will ask you where you want to save them. You can choose the folder that is created and save them that way.

Another way to save your pictures to your computer is to use a USB cable. Digital cameras usually include one in the package with the camera. You can simply plug it into your camera and then the USB cable into an open port. Some cameras require software to be installed the first time, and it is usually included in the package as well. Once the connection is made, then again you will create the name of the folder and the pictures will be saved where you tell the computer to save them.

Saving pictures is a great way to free up the space on your memory card so that you can take pictures again in a moments notice.
